This was the first RH album I think I ever heard. Definitely it’s the first one I bought. As is often the case, the first exposure to new music makes an impression, that lasts and lasts. First time music often make it to personal top ten lists. That’s certainly the case with me and this album. I left all my vinyl in England when I moved to the states decades ago, so I’m really looking forward to purchasing the new vinyl remix to add to my slowly growing stateside collection.
I’m very excited for this! My boyfriend played the album for me one late night/early morning as I was coming off my first acid trip. It’s been a favorite ever since.
“Globe Of Frogs” was my jumping off point as a fan. I bought a copy based on the Rolling Stone review which suggested it might be right up my alley. It was. I fell in love with the voice, the lyrics, and the diverse styles of guitar playing on that album. I’ve been on board ever since. I look forward to live performances close enough for me to attend and any and all new releases/rereleases. (I’ve seen 14 shows to date.)“Globe Of Frogs” is still in my all time RH top ten. Excited to hear the new mixes!!! Peace and Love!
Globe of Frogs is actually one of the few major label albums from the late 80s that still sounds good to me, and I treasure my vinyl copy that I bought back in the day. (I also attended your record release party for it at the Knitting Factory in NYC, but that’s another story.) That said, I’m quite excited to hear what the new remix sounds like!
Wow! Didn’t have waking up to a GOF remix on my bingo card today but what a nice surprise! After reading this post was surprised to hear of all the master tapes you mention. It seems rare that a major label would’ve let you keep these back then? Did you negotiate those into your contract? Whatever the case I’m excited to hear the new version and whatever else is to come. Also, thanks for pressing on black vinyl!!!!
Ironically I’m reading this post in East Nashville, in town this week for not a Bachelorette pedal pub ride, but Americanafest. Love this album! Was talking about it with Karen Glauber the other day, after pulling out and spinning my OG vinyl copy - complete with custom cat-shredded spine. Very psyched to hear the new 21st Century Schizoid Mix! - Jim McGuinn (Radio not Byrds), WXPN Philadelphia (when not in Nashvegas).
Oy, what they did to the drums in those days! Flat as pancakes, that sound. I wonder if the title track was any kind of reflection of the Grateful Dead?
"You bet your sweet bippy" -- haven't heard that in aeons. 23 skidoo! I wish ALL worthy artists who recorded in the '80s would remix their albums. No one, absolutely no one, is nostalgic for that "big hair" production style. It wasn't that pronounced on your albums, though. Top remix candidates for me would be Lou Reed's "New Sensations", and any of the Mitchell Froom-produced Richard Thompson LPs.
Very excited … especially for the remix, and the liner notes 💚!!!

A skull, a suitcase, and a long red bottle of wine was my fave song. I had the LP, but it got lost in one of my many moves over the years.
I tried to find it in Apple music not too long ago and couldn’t. 😔
I will definitely be picking up the new release.
How fun to get to tell someone how much their music means/meant to me.

Hooray for Tiny Ghost Records, this will be awesome!
It’ll be great to have this album back in print again!
Very exciting news!

Count me in! Now if only J4S can finally get a vinyl pressing . . .
On the website it notes a black vinyl version denoted “D2 deluxe vinyl”… how is this one different to the color vinyl versions?
Can't hardly wait!
